2010 – 2011 Officers

Valerie Kolligian Thayer, President

Valerie lives in Concord with her husband and their two children.  Valerie graduated from Bowdoin College with a degree in History and Romance Languages and a minor in Economics.  After completing the Loan Officer Development Program for The First National Bank of Boston in 1987, Valerie worked for 10 years in the bank’s Middle Market Corporate Lending division.  After that, Valerie left the bank to be at home with her family, with a small detour at the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts where she completed the Professional Chef’s program.  Valerie served on the Guild of Volunteers at the Concord Museum for six years, served as Treasurer and then President of the Alcott Parent Teacher Group and is VP of the Waukeela Foundation, a non-profit organization which raises scholarship money to send girls to overnight camp.

John R. Hickling, Co-vice President


John became involved with the Community Chest in 2005. He lives in Concord with his wife and two sons.

Patty Popov, Co-vice President


Patty is a partner in a Boston private trustee office, Nichols & Pratt, LLP. She is also a trusts and estate lawyer, practicing as a partner of Pratt, Bator & Popov, LLP.  Patty joined Nichols & Pratt in 2000.  Prior to joining Nichols & Pratt, Patty practiced law for 10 years at Goodwin Procter in Boston.  Her law practice includes creating and advising private family foundations. Patty served for 10 years on the Board of Trustees for Middlesex School and for 3 years on the Finance Committee for the Town of Concord. She grew up in Carlisle, Massachusetts, and now lives in Concord with her husband and their two children.

Mark Bamford,, Co-vice President

Mark is an independent management consultant as well as an attorney and mediator.  His consulting practice is focused exclusively on non-profit organizations. Mark serves on the boards of Community Consulting Teams and The Nature Connection.  He received an undergraduate degree from Tufts University, a master’s degree from the MIT Sloan School of Management, and a law degree from the Boston University School of Law.  Mark lives in Concord with his wife and two sons.

Betsy Veidenheimer, Treasurer

Betsy was raised in Concord. After graduating from Kenyon College, she spent five years in New York working on Wall Street in Institutional Equity Sales. She then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Kenan Flagler School of Business where she earned an MBA. Betsy spent her post-business school career initially in financial services marketing and ultimately as an investor relations officer for two Fortune 500 companies before deciding to stay home with her two boys. Since then, she has been active in a wide variety of volunteer activities.

Martha Gilpatrick Wolf, Clerk

Marty is married and has raised three children. She is trained as a physician and works part-time in clinical research trials (both as clinician and regulator). Marty is involved in book groups and singing groups and has been a board member of other organizations (swim clubs, church, schools). She enjoys staying physically active and traveling.
