2009 - 2010 Board Members

Penny Austen
Penny moved to Concord from North Carolina and is a part-time freelance editor and full-time mom of three. A native of Ottawa, Canada, she received a Joint Honors B.A. from McGill University, and an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. Penny worked at SAS Institute, the leading business intelligence software provider, for six years, where she focused on marketing and strategy. Prior to joining SAS, Penny was a consultant with KPMG Peat Marwick LLP. She was also Business Development Manager at Angoss Software International, a data mining company located in Toronto.

Gisela Cowan-Bondick
Gigi was born and raised in Mexico City and now lives in Carlisle with her husband and her son. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in International Business and a minor in Petroleum Engineering. She attended Southern Methodist University School of Law in Dallas, TX. Her professional experience includes working at the law firm of Baker & McKenzie, followed by the Patent and Trademark department at Frito-Lay, and eventually as Associate Counsel for ENSCO International, an off-shore oil services provider. She also logged many hours as a volunteer attorney for Legal Services of North Texas. Having left her legal career, she is a full-time mother.

E. Kate Galusza
Kate was with Fidelity Investments in Boston for 11 years as a project manager and systems analyst in their institutional (401k) companies, and more recently on the Equity Trading Floors. Since staying home with her three children, she has served on the board of Milldam Nursery School as Membership Chair, served on the Nashoba Brooks PA as Treasurer, Country Fair chair, Raffle chair, and as acquisitions co-chair for two auctions. At Fenn, Kate has worked on the annual sports sale. She has also volunteered through the years with the Concord Museum and most recently co-chaired the Jericho Road Auction.

Amanda Young Hickman
Amanda is a partner at Insight Experience, a leadership development company specializing in computer-based business simulations, based in West Concord. Her background is in business strategy and change management.  She has been involved on the Allocations Committee for the Chest several times.  Amanda lives in Carlisle with her husband and two sons who attend the Carlisle School.

Lindsay Smith Kafka
Lindsay grew up in Concord from the age of 8 years old, graduating in 1985 from CCHS .From there, Ms. Kafka continued her education at Stanford University and Boston University School of Law. Lindsay is a trusts and estates attorney at Henshon Parker LLP in Boston. She is a current member of the board of trustees of the Concord Carlisle Scholarship Fund and is a former board member of Concord Youth Theatre. She is active in the OVAL program for Stanford University, a alumni volunteer program for interviewing applicants to Stanford, as well as the Concord PanMass Challenge Kids’ Bikeride. Lindsay also does pro bono legal work at the Open Table Food Pantry and the Concord Council on Aging.

Nicole Kelly
Nicole grew up in Mobile, Alabama and Paris, France.  She graduated with a degree in Economics from Smith College and received an MBA in Finance from Southern Methodist University. Nicole worked for Digital Equipment Corp. as a financial consultant and then as a product manager for one of the first international email products. After her first child was born, Nicole worked as a newspaper writer and columnist for a group of NH newspapers and also freelanced for several corporations writing press releases and annual reports. Many years later, she worked as the Director of Major Gifts at ALS Therapy Development Institute, a non-profit biotech in Cambridge, MA which is working on a cure for ALS, a disease which runs in her husband's family. Nicole and Kevin have four children.  Nicole is a sustaining member of the Junior League and is involved as a volunteer at WGBH, the Alcott School, chairs the annual fund for the freshman class at Lawrence Academy, and serves on the board of the Garden Club of Concord and the Smith Club of Massachusetts.

Wendy McNally
Wendy is a resident of Concord where she lives here with her husband, John and two children. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a B.S in Food Science and Nutrition. Her professional experience includes working for Bain & Company, and as a Mortgage Officer for Shawmut Bank. Wendy is a full time mother who has volunteered her time to various organizations. She served on the Board of the Children’s Meetinghouse Preschool, as secretary and Fundraising Chair, has helped with Thoreau PTG fundraisers, and has served on the Guild Board of Volunteers for four years at the Concord Museum. Wendy has Co-Chaired the Concord Museum’s Garden Affairs, a town wide event with over a hundred volunteers helping each year. She is a member of the Concord Garden Club and will be serving on the Board in the upcoming year. Wendy has also served on the Community Chest’s Auction and Allocations committees.

Wayne Patenaude
Wayne is currently an EVP and CFO of Cambridge Savings Bank and has been in the Banking industry for his entire career. His particular areas of expertise are fixed income portfolio management, project palling, budgeting and business line analysis. He has served on many non-profit boards such as the Finance Committee for the American Red Cross in both Berkshire County and Hartford CT and Trustee of the Berkshire Museum. He lives with his wife and two children in Concord.

Maura Lawton Perkins
Maura is a relatively new resident to Concord, moving from Newburyport in 2006 with her husband and two children. She served as a volunteer on the Allocations Committee for two years. Prior to moving to Concord, she was on the Newburyport Retirement Fund Board for 10 years, a treasurer and trustee of the First Religious Society in Newburyport and president and treasurer of the Women’s Crisis Center (for battered women). She has a CFA and worked as an analyst at various Boston financial institutions before having children, including State Street Boston Corp and The Boston Company. She has an MBA from Babson College and a BA in Economics from Hobart and William Smith Colleges. She is married to William Perkins, a partner at Loring,Wolcott and Coolidge in Boston.

Mark Russell Prior
Mark works as Data Management Team Leader for the Administrative Office of the Massachusetts Trial Court.  Mark and his wife Abby live in Concord and have two daughters. Mark has worked on the Concord Finance Committee and the Community Chest Allocations committee most recently as a team leader.

Edward Prewitt
Ed lives in Concord with his wife and their two boys. He has been a business journalist for much of his career (Fortune magazine, Harvard Business School Publishing, and CIO magazine, among others) and currently works as Research and Editorial Director at ECC Partnership, a startup strategy consulting firm based in Concord. Ed's community service activities in Concord include Vestry, Stewardship Committee chair, and Search Committee at Trinity Episcopal Church; Cub Scout leadership; and youth soccer coach. Previous activities include City Year projects, literacy tutor for inner-city youth, and an allocations committee for the United Way of Wake County (Raleigh, NC). Ed is an expatriate Southerner who came to New England for graduate school 18 years ago and never left. He is a graduate of Harvard's Kennedy School of Government and of Duke University. For fun, Ed likes to compete in triathlons and play soccer.

Bridget Saltonstall
Bridget is a long-time resident of the Concord-Carlisle area. She and her husband Jim lived and worked for many years at Middlesex School, where she held many positions, while raising two children, including tutoring and testing coordinator for students with learning issues and editor of school publications. For the last 13 years, she has been the Assistant Director for Constituent Relations and Publications at Nashoba Brooks School. She has served on the board of the Concord-Carlisle Human Rights Council for 15 years and is a facilitator with the Communities for Restorative Justice. She served as President of Milldam Nursery School and volunteered every year at every school her children attended, short of college. She spends summers on a salt water farm on the coast of Maine, where she has promoted youth sailing at the local and state level and served for many years on the board of the local yacht club. Bridget holds a BA in communications from Simmons College and a certificate from the MGH Program of Education in Therapy for Specific Learning Disabilities.

Ann Sgarzi
Ann earned a BA in Journalism from Rutgers College and then worked for several years in the technology group at Goldman, Sachs & Co. before earning an MBA from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University and switching her focus to marketing.  She has more than 17 years experience in marketing communications and public relations, focused primarily in the high technology and financial services industries at companies including Thomson Financial, the Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund, and several startups.  More recently Ann has done communications work in the in fundraising for cMarket, an online auction provider for nonprofits.  Ann is currently working as a marketing consultant on a freelance basis for several companies and nonprofits, and serves on the Marketing and Allocations committees of the Community Chest.  Ann lives in Concord with her husband and two children. 

Betsy Veidenheimer
Betsy was raised in Concord. After graduating from Kenyon College, she spent five years in New York working on Wall Street in Institutional Equity Sales. She then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Kenan Flagler School of Business where she earned an MBA. Betsy spent her post-business school career initially in financial services marketing and ultimately as an investor relations officer for two Fortune 500 companies before deciding to stay home with her two boys. Since then, she has been active in a wide variety of volunteer activities.

Adam D. Winstanley
Adam is a founder and principal of Winstanley Enterprises LLC, an investor, developer and asset manager of commercial real estate throughout the Northeast. He has over 20 years experience in acquiring, repositioning, financing and selling various commercial real estate products, and specializes in returning obsolete commercial properties back to functionality and productive use. The foresight, creativity, and in-depth relationships Adam brings to each individual investment have made him a recognized market-maker throughout the New England states. Adam is a patron of the arts, serving on the boards of the Concord-Carlisle Community Chest and The Concord Art Association. He is also past board member and President of The Copley Society where he oversaw the redevelopment and repositioning of its Newbury Street headquarters. Adam holds a BA from Denison University. He and his wife Susie are natives of Concord, MA where they reside with their two children.

Martha Gilpatrick Wolf
Marty is married and has raised three children. She is trained as a physician and works part-time in clinical research trials (both as clinician and regulator). Marty is involved in book groups and singing groups and has been a board member of other organizations (swim clubs, church, schools). She enjoys staying physically active and traveling.
