Community Chest Challenge set for June 7th
April 21, 2009
The 7th annual Community Chest Challenge will take place on Sunday, June 7th beginning at 8 AM at The Fenn School. This is a community event where all levels of teams work together to help raise funds for local human service organizations. Hosted by the Concord-Carlisle and Maynard Community Chests, the race culminates with the awarding of the golden paddle prize to the group that raises the largest donation. Additional prizes will be given across several other categories.
Everyone is invited to form teams now. Each team will have two participants per leg to bike, run and paddle the scenic race route in Concord and Carlisle. Local agencies are also encouraged to recruit or sponsor a team and any money raised above the minimum contribution will be distributed directly to that agency. Registration has been made simple and teams are asked to register electronically at www.cccommunitychest.org. Non-athletes who want to help make a difference can go to the Chest website as well to donate or volunteer the day of the event. All teams are seeking sponsor donations from friends and neighbors.
The Challenge begins at 8 a.m. from The Fenn School with an 11.5-mile bike loop through Carlisle center, a 3-mile run to the South Bridge Boat House, and a 2-mile canoe race back to the Old Manse. Each leg of the competition is completed by two team members with teams consisting of two to six people. The minimum team contribution is $600 and all donations are tax deductible.
The Chest is grateful to these generous Presenting sponsors: Cambridge Savings Charitable Foundation, Concord Hillside Medical Associates, Middlesex Savings Bank, and SolidWorks. Our Gift-In-Kind sponsors include The Fenn School, The Old Manse–A Property of The Trustees of Reservations and the South Bridge Boat House.
